Course and Event Requirements for the VLC

Use the guidelines below when building courses or scheduling events in the VLC. 

Course Requirements 

To create a course, gather the following information: 

  • Proposed Course Number and Title: Include the VDSS prefix. 
  • Keywords: Words to make the course easier to find. 
  • Course Description: A short summary of what the course covers. 
  • Course Provider: The sponsoring organization. 
  • Course Number: The assigned ID for the course. 
  • Duration: Total length of the course. 
  • Categories: Relevant training categories. 
  • Prerequisites: Courses learners must complete first. 
  • Equivalencies: Other courses that count as this course on a transcript. 
  • Access Approval: Indicate if admin approval is needed for enrollment. 
  • Contact Hours: Hours awarded after completion. 
  • Survey Assigned: Specify if a post-course evaluation is required. 
  • Image or Promotional Video: Optional visual materials for the course page. 
  • Permissions: Organizations allowed to view or enroll in the course. 

Note: Confirm cost allocation with Paige Elswick before adding the course to VLC.

Event Requirements 

For individual training sessions (events), gather these details: 

  • Course Name: Title of the parent course. 
  • Start Date/Time: When the session begins. 
  • End Date/Time: When the session ends. 
  • Minimum Enrollment: Smallest number of learners needed to hold the session. 
  • Maximum Enrollment: Total capacity for the session. 
  • Waitlist: Indicate if you want a waitlist when the session is full. 
  • Enrollment Period: Dates learners can register. 
  • Enrollment Cancellation Date: Last date learners can withdraw without penalty. 
  • Reminder Emails: Indicate if automated reminders should be sent. 
  • Trainer(s): Names of the session instructors.
