Research and Planning / Annual Statistical Report / Benefit Programs / Children’s Health Insurance Program
The Children’s Health Insurance Program helps children get health coverage when they do not qualify for Medicaid. It supports children under age 19 in families with limited income.
In Virginia, this coverage is called Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS). It helps families whose income is above Medicaid limits but still need support.
The program may also cover pregnant individuals. This helps support healthy pregnancies and early care for families.
Some changes in the average monthly expenditure per enrollee are related to the number of MCO (managed care organization) capitation payments processed each year.
