If you are the legal parent or caregiver of a child, you can apply for child support services through the Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE).

Applying online through the MyChildSupport portal is the fastest way to get started.

When you apply, DCSE can help:

  • Locate a parent
  • Establish paternity and child support orders
  • Enforce child support orders
  • Collect and distribute child support payments
  • Review and adjust child support orders
  • Work with other agencies, states or countries when needed

When part of a child support case, we may also help with related spousal support and medical support orders.

What you will need to apply.

It may help to have some information ready. You can still apply even if you don’t have everything—we’ll work with you to gather what’s needed.

  • Your name and contact information
  • The other parent’s name and contact information
  • Your child’s name and date of birth
  • Any court orders you already have
  • Bank account information (if you choose direct deposit)

Apply using a paper application.

If you prefer not to apply online, you can use a paper application.

You can:

  • Download and complete the application, then upload it through MyChildSupport (you will need to create an account)
  • Request a paper application by contacting us at 1-800-468-8894
  • Pick up or drop off a completed application at a DCSE District Office
  • Mail your completed application

After you apply, we will review your application and open your child support case.

  • Once your application is processed, a child support case will be opened.
  • A DCSE case manager will contact you about next steps.

How to Receive Payments

If you apply online through MyChildSupport, you can choose direct deposit or a debit card as part of your application.

These are often the fastest and most reliable ways to receive child support payments.

If you apply another way, you can still set up direct deposit or a debit card after you apply.
