Each year, researchers at the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center develop the official population estimates for Virginia, its counties and its independent cities. These estimates help show how populations change between national census counts. They provide the best estimate of how many people live in each area as of July 1 of the previous year.
This report shares a demographic profile of people living across Virginia. Communities and organizations can use this information to better understand population trends and plan services that support residents.
