What is the Way2Go Card®?

The Way2Go Card is a safe and easy way to receive your Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits.

It works like a regular debit card, not a credit card. Money is taken from your available balance when you make purchases or withdraw cash. You can use the card anywhere MasterCard debit cards are accepted, including stores and banks.

The Way2Go Card is the same as an EPPICard.

You must activate your card before you can use it.

Activate your card by:

During activation, you will choose a 4-digit PIN.
After activation, check your balance to make sure funds are available.

A PIN is a 4-digit number you choose when you activate your card.

You use your PIN to:

  • Withdraw cash from an ATM
  • Make debit card purchases

Choose a number that is hard to guess.
Do not write it down or share it with anyone.

VDSS and Way2Go will never call or text to ask for your PIN.

What if I forget my PIN or want to change it?

Call Go Program Customer Service at 800-961-8423 to reset or change your PIN.

You can use your card anywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including:

  • Grocery stores
  • Gas stations
  • Restaurants
  • Department stores
  • Online

You can also pay bills with your card. If you set up bill pay directly with the company, there is no fee.

Some merchants, such as hotels, may place a temporary hold on your funds.
This hold may be higher than the purchase amount.

Any extra funds held will be released back to your card after the transaction is completed.

Federal law does not allow TANF benefits to be used for:

  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Lottery tickets
  • Sexually explicit materials

You may not use your card at:

  • Liquor stores
  • Casinos or gambling locations
  • Adult entertainment venues
  • Tattoo or body piercing shops

Using the card at these locations may result in penalties.

Calling as soon as possible helps protect the money on your card.

If you apply for TANF again in the future, your benefits may be added to the same card.
