The Appeals and Fair Hearings Division gives people a fair way to have their case reviewed.
If someone believes a decision was not made correctly, they can request a hearing. A hearing officer will review the case, listen to concerns and make a decision.
This process helps ensure that laws and policies are applied correctly. If an error is found, the agency will take steps to correct it.
Some hearings review whether benefits were received in error. In these cases, a hearing officer looks at the facts to decide if program rules were followed.
Benefit program appeals include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Administrative Disqualification Hearings and other programs.
