VDSS Block Grant

Social Services Block Grants (SSBG)

The Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) is federal money that helps pay for services through local departments of social services. It is not a program you apply to directly.

Every year, Virginia must submit a Pre-Expenditure Report and Intended Use Plan to show how these funds will be used. The report explains how much SSBG money Virginia expects to spend and which services it will support.

Before sending the report to the federal government, the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) must share this information, including contact information, to the public for review and comment.

You can access the reports by clicking on the Broadcast Letter-SSBG Pre-Expenditure Report, the SSBG Intended Use Plan and the SSBG Pre-Expenditure Report, on the table below.

If you have any questions, contact Ida Witherspoon or Paige Elswick:

Select a tab heading to see the reports submitted for that year. Then use the links in the table to view, download or print the reports.

For previous years, please see the VDSS Finance Archive.
